Towada Shrine

Towada-jinja shrine is situated in Aomori Prefecture, commonly known by the names Seiryu-Gongen and Kumano-Gongen. The enshrined god here is Yamato-takeru-no-mikoto. In the past Towadasan Seiryu Daigongen, the lord of Lake Towada, was enshrined here.

Towada-jinja is also famous as a place for practitioners of Shugendo, which is a mixture of traditional Japanese shamanistic mountain faith and Buddhism, and the temple located deep in the mountains has a very dignified atmosphere about it.
